Charmyne Palavi has successfully won initial defamation proceedings against Sydney radio station 2UE after she was allegedly called “a slut” for her associating with NRL footy players.

It is reported that Ms Palavi is suing 2UE following a program that went to air on May 14 over a segment on the Steve Price breakfast show in the wake of the Matthew Johns group sex scandal.

In a statement submitted to the New South Wales District Court, Ms Palavi alleges the segment implied that she was a slut, a madam or runs a brothel.

The claim goes on to say the broadcast also contained the allegedly defamatory imputations that she puts NRL players and underage girls together for sex, and that she condoned NRL players having sex with underage girls in an organised fashion.

However, the application was dismissed by Judge Judith Gibson who said it should be left to a jury to rule on the imputations.
