The outage is believed to have affected all Telstra business and home broadband and mobile internet customers across the nation.

A Telstra spokesman said that all services were restored by about 8:50am.

The company had launched a major incident response team to investigate the outage, but it has not been confirmed what has caused it.

Blogging sites including Twitter and Facebook lit up with posts about the problem.
