Molly Meldrum unlikely to appear on Hey Hey special

Australian music guru Molly Meldrum has been banned from taking part in reunion specials of Channel 9’s former hit TV show Hey Hey It’s Saturday.

Meldrum says that he is unable to take part in the show as he works for Channel 7 and that (Seven Boss) David Leckie has said no.

Other former cast members including John Blackman, Wilbur Wilde, Russell Gilbert and Livinia Nixon will take part in the special.

The specials hosted by Daryl Somers will air on Channel 9 in September and October this year.

The Nine Network hasn’t given up yet, hoping that Seven boss David Leckie will allow Meldrum to appear on the show.

The reunion specials of the show will feature many of the show’s favourite segments including Red Faces, Celebrity Heads, Wot Cheezes Me Orf, Media Watch Press and Phunny Photos.  Each of the specials will run live for two hours.

A Nine spokesman said that appearances on the show have not been finalised, and there is no fixed decision.

Less than 400 tickets will be available for the two shows, with only die-hard fans being able to obtain the tickets by writing to the TV station

Somers has decided to bypass normal ticket agencies and the internet to determine who gets the coveted seats.

Instead, fans will have to try their luck by sending a letter to Channel 9.
