Convicted Paedophile Dennis Ferguson to be moved

Convicted paedophile Dennis Ferguson is to be moved from his Sydney residence, a location which the New South Wales government has deemed as inappropriate.

The 61 year-old who has been driven out of communities because of his past convictions for child sex offences has been living in public housing in the Ryde area for the past two weeks.

David Borger, NSW Housing Minister said he became aware of Ferguson’s residence over the weekend.

He said the location does meet the strict guidelines which require him to be at least 400 metres away from a school, but does not feel comfortable with it.

Mr Borger said that Ferguson will be moved as soon as possible, hopefully by the end of this week.

Borger did not specify where Ferguson would be moved, saying that it would be further from families in these local areas.

Ferguson was moved to Sydney after being acquitted of a child sex offence in Brisbane earlier this year, and was jailed for 14 years after kidnapping three children and sexually molesting them in a Brisbane motel.
